The annual WA State testing window for grades 3-12 runs from mid-March to early June. Each District sets their own testing dates within this time-frame. Many tests are conducted online, though others are paper-pencil.

Wahkiakum School District is using the new Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) for Math and English/Language Arts in grades 3-8 and grade 11, while continuing to use the Measure of Student Progress (MSP) in Science for grades 5 and 8.

To learn more about Smarter Balanced, visit Ready Washington Coalition. This website has a variety of videos and pdf's describing Common Core and Next Gen Science Standards, a teachers' blog with their experiences, and parent-friendly handouts and FAQs translated into 6 languages.
