Wahkiakum High School students have many opportunities to take on leadership roles and excel in academics.
Education Is #1 at Wahkiakum High School
Wahkiakum High School is proud to be an accredited high school that offers a caring, nurturing environment with experienced and creative teachers and staff, who focus on education as preparation for the future. In fact, the vast majority of our graduates continue their education at a community college or 4-year university.
Our faculty believes that learning takes place not only in the classroom, but also in the community-at-large.

WHS Student Orientation
Just before school starts in the fall, WHS offers Orientation for Incoming Freshmen and New Students.
It's a fun-filled morning as we welcome students to Wa-Ki-Hi. They meet their teachers, meet other students, tour the campus, get their locker, and learn tips from 11th and 12th grade Link Leaders!
Many thanks to our amazing Link Leaders — their leadership skills and positive attitudes made this year's Orientation an enthusiastic and spirited way to start the year.
Homecoming Week
Each year, our student leadership team plans a variety of student activities.
The craziest week of the year is Homecoming Spirit Week, culminating with the Homecoming football game on Friday at 7:00pm (and the announcement of the Homecoming Court), and a dance on Saturday evening.
To show our spirit, there is a competition between the classes to see who has the most spirit. The walls are decorated and there are pep assemblies and dress-up days for the 4 classes.
Veterans' Day Assembly: WHS Gym
Our annual Veterans' Day Assembly is a special time for the students and a large number of community members to gather together to honor our local Veterans and thank all Veterans for their service to our country.
During our November/2018 program, we highlighted the service of our local Vietnam Veterans.
Each year, our WHS students produce an unforgettable Veterans' Day Assembly (link opens a YouTube video). The program includes at least one distinguished speaker from the US military, readings by students and music by the WHS Band and Choir. In English classes, students write essays about what it means to be an American and several are selected to read their essays at the assembly. The program also includes the traditional and moving candlelight ceremony, where each student names and honors a Veteran in attendance or one living in the community.
Our Foreign Exchange Student Program
Each year, Wahkiakum High School welcomes several foreign exchange students, who are hosted by local community members.
